vs. Dial Indicator Alignment

The debate among practitioners of these
alignment techniques borders on fanatical. The primary stated advantages of
a Laser over Dials is accuracy and speed. There is no denying the latter. A
trained craftsman can perform an alignment much faster using a Laser. This
can usually be translated directly into increased production. The former,
although true, is not a big an issue as most laser alignment manufacturer's
would like to point out. In most instances, a trained craftsman can perform
a precision alignment with dial indicators.
It is not uncommon to find alignment
specialist that utilize a combination of both techniques when performing an
alignment correction. Many will use the laser for the actual alignment and
dials for runout checks and soft foot indication.
In the end, it is up to the individual to
justify the increased cost of a laser system. Reliability Direct offers a
