Strategies for Excellence in Maintenance Management
by John Dixon Campbell
Customer
Rating:
Campbell outlines a
blueprint for a world class maintenance program by examining, piece by
piece, its essential elements - leadership (strategy and management),
control (data management, measures, tactics, planning and scheduling),
continuous improvement (RCM and TPM), and quantum leaps (process
reengineering). He explains each element in detail, using simple language
and practical examples from a wide range of industries.

EVOLUTION
multi sensor system is a digital, battery-powered instrument which has
interchangeable Sensor Modules. A common Display Unit
recognizes any Sensor Module and configures the Display
without programming or set-up. The unit can be configured as a Laser
Tachometer, Contact Tachometer, Dual Contact Thermometer,
Humidity/Thermometer, Infrared Thermometer or a LED Strobelight
The
Stress Tel family of
"T-Mike"
Ultrasonic thickness gages are
compact, rugged, easy to use
instruments for determining thickness of metals, plastics, ceramics, glass
or virtually any other material which conducts ultrasound.
The SPM
LUBECHECKER allows you to properly lubricate your bearings. The
instrument works according to the SPM method. It monitors the shock pulses
from the bearing and indicates the effect of the fresh lubricant on the
oil film inside the bearing. Instead of assuming that your bearings are
properly lubricated, you can immediately watch the result.
The
VIB-10/11
is a hand-held instrument for measuring the RMS value of vibration
velocity, to detect out-of-balance, misalignment and other mechanical
faults in rotating machines. The VIB 10/11 is sturdy, battery powered, and
easy to use.
ASK
THE EXPERT
Thrust
Position Measurement
Thrust Position Monitoring was one of the earliest applications for Eddy
Current Transducers. When utilized for this application, it is one of the
most important components of a complete machinery protection system.
Thrust bearing failure produces one of the most catastrophic failures of a
rotating machine. This could result in very expensive repairs and the
possibility of machine replacement.
Theory of
Operation
Eddy Probe Transducers work on the proximity theory of operation. A System
consists of a matched component system: a Probe, an Extension Cable and an
Oscillator /Demodulator. A high frequency RF signal @ 2 mHz is generated
by the Oscillator/Demodulator, sent through the extension cable and
radiated from the Probe tip. Eddy currents are generated in the surface of
the shaft. The Oscillator /Demodulator demodulates the signal and provides
a modulated DC Voltage where the DC portion is directly proportional to
gap (distance) and the AC portion is directly proportional to vibration.
In this way a Eddy Current Transducer can be used for both Radial
Vibration and distance measurements such as Thrust Position and Shaft
Position.
