AC Line Power Integrity can not be taken
for granted. AC
Line Monitors by
Pioneer will monitor or troubleshoot line problems by plugging it in
to a suitable AC outlet. Displays include line frequency, line voltage
and wiring integrity.
The Pioneer
PK1 Pocket Strobe is the world's smallest
Industrial Stroboscope. It conveniently stops motion, measures speed,
and is a bright as a full sized "Pistol Grip" Strobe.

Question: "How
can I determine if my belts on my belt driven machine are correctly
matched while my machine is still running?"
Answer: First, listen to the belt drive. Is it
making unusual noises such as squealing or thumping. Next, use a
manually adjustable strobe
light (like the slick PK1 mentioned above...)
to view the belts while they operate. Tune the strobe light flashing
rate so that it is slightly slower than the belt speed. The belts
should now appear to travel around the sheaves. Now then, assuming you
had the fore thought to make a permanent, contrasting mark across all
of the belts when they were installed you would now see these marks
pass through the strobe light field. If they are all still lined up
everything is fine, no individual belt is slipping. If they are no
longer lined up, one of two things comes to mind: the belts are
mismatched (not the same length) or on the sheave grooves is worn.

Note: Transient Analysis |
| Transient analysis is the study of how
various signals change during a machine's process or load change. This
analysis is particularly important during a machine's startup or
shutdown when critical speeds or natural resonance's are encountered.
Observing the overall amplitudes or individual spectra will not be
sufficient to document how the entire machine behaves during transient
conditions. Data collection modes fall into two general categories:
observing transducer output signals with respect to machine speed and
observing transducer output signals with respect to time. Sometimes, a
combination of the two modes may be required. For details and sample
plots depicting Transient Analysis, click on the hyperlink here: Transient

Hot? |
The Pioneer
PDT-2000 Hand Held Tachometer is a hot seller this
fall! The palm sized unit measures RPM, Surface Speed & Length,
with or without contact. It can also be used to measure the
accumulated total of continuously running material such as paper,or
wire being wound on a spool, or to check the calibration of on-line
counters and totalizers.
'Tis the Season to be Aligning... well it seems like it because our
High quality Stainless
Steel Shims are moving fast! The shims are
dimensionally uniform and electro-etched for permanent easy to read
identification. The shims come in a variety of standard assortments
and each kit is offered in a sturdy metal carrying case with a removal
tool. Shims are also available in any custom assortment to fit your
needs. Call 800-899-2241 for any custom
orders.

History: Cost Effective Fan Monitoring |
| An OEM client approached RDI seeking a
cost effective solution to monitoring a large number of Air Blowers for
a Tunnel project. Our solution was to design the CMCP420VT
Loop powered Vibration Transmitter. It provides a 4-20 mA output that is
proportional to overall vibration in terms of velocity. The CMCP420VT
continuously monitors machinery health and transmits directly into a PLC
or DCS for trending, alarm and machine shutdown. In addition, the
CMCP420VT provides access to the buffered transducer output for
interface to a portable vibration data collector/analyzer for detailed
vibration analysis. |
